Check out the NaviGenie SDK for 3D map data!

It is getting more and more apparent that 3D navigation and 3D map data really is the future! We here at NN4D are helping our customers lead the way by enabling them to provide developers with the latest NAVTEQ 3D map data! To see an example of this, you have to look no farther than Hungary-based Kishonti Informatics and their NaviGenie SDK.

The NaviGenie SDK provides optimized, scalable data services and a high-performance hardware accelerated map visualization engine, allowing you to add 3D NAVTEQ maps® and routing to your mobile applications and get to market faster on multiple platforms.

Advantages of NaviGenie SDK:
  • Multi-platform support: Easy to integrate with native UI controls on iOS®, Android™, Linux™ and Windows® platforms.
  • Fast to market: Fully featured reference application minimizes development time and cost.
  • On- and off-board: Efficient data compression requires minimal bandwidth and/or storage space.
  • Cloud-based maps: Instant global coverage for off-board services.
  • Performance: Hardware accelerated, customizable fully 3D map engine on all platforms.

Features and Services

NaviGenie SDK includes the standard location-based functionalities such as:
  • Map visualization
  • Routing
  • Geocoding
  • Address lookup
  • POI search
These features are configurable independently from each other to operate on-board or in the cloud.

Yes, you heard that right, by using the NaviGenie SDK it is possible to create apps that includes both on- and off-board services in the same application. This allows you to do all kinds of cool things such as start with a small off-board application and download on-board data sets incrementally over the air later when required.

NN4D really likes the NaviGenie SDK, as this was one the third runner-up prize in the 2009 NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge®, so it is great to see that this SDK is now available for developers to download and use.

Check out the NaviGenie SDK and give it a whirl! You will soon find out how easy it is to create some really cool 3D apps using the NaviGenie SDK!
