Why is it important to test your app? Well, for one thing, if you launch an buggy app that is not tested, you will not get a high rating in the various app stores. What is unique about the VDL is that it allows you to physically view how your app will look (and run) on a ton of different phones across multiple carriers in different countries. Using the VDL, you are able to load your app onto different physical devices and run it through it's paces. No emulator can come close to testing on a real device, and the VDL allows you to do just that.
